The Amer-A-Thon Story
The Amer-A-Thon program began in 1981 with a series of “trial runs” in response to the founder’s beliefs that there was a better way of raising money with a walk-a-thon than by having children solicit pledges door-to-door for five, ten, or twenty-five cents a lap/mile.
After multiple successes the first year, Amer-A-Thon aligned itself with a major fundraising company and immediately began running highly successful programs from coast to coast.
In response to requests over the years from schools/organizations, Amer-A-Thon has added two additional methods of administering the program. Either of these two, Amer-A-Thon II, or Amer-A-Thon Express, further minimize the workload for the school/organization staff/volunteers.
Amer-A-Thon programs can also be structured as other types of thons including reading, spelling, swimming, hitting, shooting, or marching.
Since the majority of “thons” that take place today are local events, Amer-A-Thon takes the concept one step further by not only promoting local contributions, but statewide and national contributions as well.
TheAmer-A-Thon home office personnel do the majority of the work and the program is organized is such a way as to make it EDUCATIONAL, SAFE, HEALTHY, AND FUN!
School superintendents, Principals, Teachers, Parents, and Students love it! Many schools/organizations have used the Amer-A-Thon over and over again since it’s inception, and most are continuing to remain successful year after year.
The Amer-A-Thon is a copyrighted, walk-jog-run for profit fundraising program!
